Shelby – Traditional Birth Doula | North Georgia
Shelby is a traditional birth doula based in North Georgia. A devoted follower of Christ, a loving wife, and a mother, she has been captivated by the world of birth since childhood. Though she always felt drawn to this sacred space, it wasn’t until she experienced the transformative power of her own home birth that her calling became clear. That experience deepened her passion and led her to embrace her role in supporting other women through their own birthing journeys.
Shelby’s doula philosophy is rooted in the belief that the call to serve as a doula is innate—woven into the fabric of womanhood. She sees this role not as a profession measured by certifications or the number of births attended, but as a sacred calling. Shelby believes that women are designed to support one another through life’s most profound transitions, and there is no greater honor for her than walking alongside a woman as she journeys from maiden to mother. For Shelby, this work is not a business—it is a divine mission. She feels deeply honored to stand beside each woman in her power, bearing witness to the strength, beauty, and sacredness of birth.

Hi! I’m Shea Collier, RN, IBCLC at Joyful Lactation. I became passionate about breastfeeding
support in 2016, when I left the hospital with our first daughter with cracked and bleeding
nipples, despite seeing lactation for 4 days. I knew something wasn’t right but didn’t know what
to do or who to call. I reached out to our doula, and she referred us to an amazing IBCLC who
helped us through the many challenges of that first breastfeeding journey. That IBCLC is who
inspired me to become one myself!
Our first daughter was diagnosed with a tongue tie and lip tie and had a lot of body tension,
which we did have released and worked on her body tension via chiropractic care and
craniosacral therapy. Throughout my lactation training, I made sure to get educated about ties
and how they affect babies and can affect us later in life.
Throughout my professional lactation journey, I have become even more passionate about
giving moms the tools they need to get breastfeeding off to a great start so I love to teach
prenatal breastfeeding classes. I often wonder how my first breastfeeding journey would have
been different had I known then what I know now!
My husband and I have 3 kiddos now, 2 girls and 1 boy, who was born on Labor Day in 2024, at
home with 2 wonderful homebirth midwives. Each breastfeeding journey has had its own
challenges, but I am so thankful that I am able to provide the support for new moms, just as I
received that same support many years ago.
